AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices, such as TV remote controls, MP3 players, and digital cameras. Devices that, operating at the same voltage, require higher currents, use larger AA type batteries. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries. However, with the increasing efficiency and miniaturization of modern electronics, many products designed to use AA batteries are being replaced by models that accept AAA batteries. An AAA battery measures 44.5 mm in length and 10.5 mm in diameter. Alkaline AAA batteries weigh approximately 11.5 grams each, while lithium AAA batteries weigh around 7.6 grams, and rechargeable (Ni-MH) batteries usually weigh between 14 and 15 grams. The nominal voltage of alkaline and lithium AAA batteries is 1.5 V, while Ni-MH or NiCd batteries are 1.2 V. The capacity of alkaline AAA batteries is normally between 900 and 1155 mAh (between 3240 and 4158 coulombs).
